In 2013 we again ventured up the Hume to Yarrawonga for the Annual Golf Trip. With wild weather causing havoc back in Melbourne we were very fortunate to have almost the perfect golf weather on the Saturday, with many players wearing shorts (and one player needing two pairs!). The conditions were still good on the Sunday, with just a bit of wind around to make the Murray course that little bit tougher.
The big winner on the weekend was John Uwland, who smashed the field on Saturday by 7 shots. He also saluted on the Sunday in a gripping Matchplay final that was only decided by an 'Opposite Hand' tee-shot into the Murray. You would think that John had been training for this moment for years, pulling off a mighty drive to take the win. Well done John!
The other big winners on the Sunday were the Matchplay team of Peter Deveraux, Steve Murphy and Paul McColl, who won the teams event in convincing style.
Unfortunately the same couldn't be said for the Punters Club team of Andrew and Neil, who weren't able to repeat the success of the 'Sirs' last year, with punters only getting back half their investment. Even Sea Lord, immortalised on the 2013 Trip Stubby Holder, wasn't able to salute the judges.
